Experience with calibration of ionisation chambers which are used for absorbed dose determination in radiotherapy X-ray beams in Czech Republic is presented. Calibration was performed in terms of air kerma at qualities from 5 keV (30 kV) to 160 keV (300kV) at Isovolt 400. Within a given chamber type, chamber-to-chamber variations in energy response can be significant. Long term energy dependence stability of the tested ionisation chambers is sufficient for the absorbed dose determination in the therapeutic X-ray beam.
