Metaconfiguration of the computer network

Original language description

The Metaconfiguration concept focuses on the formalized approach to the computer network configuration, i.e. to configure the functions and attributes of the whole network rather than functions and attributes of single devices. The standard descriptive and configuration method of computer network should solve the problem with network settings inconsistencies and offers the way to automate various routine and repetitive tasks of this process. The cornerstone of the metaconfiguration is the general metadata model of the various network entities and its attributes. Metadata provides the environment for the automated design checking and assistance mechanisms using the so called hard and soft rules. The functions for the network administrator are availablethrough the set of design/export/import applications. Practical application in existing networks is realized via the related Netopeer system.

Metakonfigurace zařízení počítačové sítě

Czech description

Cílem metakonfigurace je vznik formalizovaného přístupu ke konfiguraci počítačové sítě. Záměrem je konfigurovat funkce a vlatnosti počítačové sítě jako celek, nikoliv po jednotlivých zařízeních. Formalizovaný přístup k popisu a konfiguraci počátačové sítě by měl vyřešit problém s nekonzistencemi v konfiguracích a nabízí řadu automatických mechanismů pro usnadnění rutinních a opakujících se činností. Základem metakonfigurace je obecný model dat (konfiguračních metadat) zachycující různé síťové entity a jejich vlastnosti. Metadata poskytují prostředí pro automatickou kontrolu správnosti návrhu a další asistenční mechanismy prostřednictvím tzv. tvrdých a měkkých pravidel. Metakonfigurační funkce jsou správci sítě dostupné prostřednictvím aplikací, řešícínávrh sítě, import dat z existujícího prostředí a export na existující zařízení. Praktická realizace je zajištěna prostřednictvím systému Netopeer.
