Comparison of Clostridium difficile PCR ribotypes in healthcare and community setting
Original language description
The development of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) has been considerably attributed to transmission within healthcare facilities. Nevertheless, the latest studies suggest that many hospital-onset CDI cases may becaused by activation of C. difficile coming from the community. The aim of this study was to compare the distribution of ribotypes circulating in the hospital with the most prevalent ribotypes in the community to investigate the relatedness of C. difficile across these settings and the source of acquisition.
