The aim of the present study is to characterize sleep and thecircadian rhythm of salivary melatonin in polysymptomatic fromof idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) in order to compare sleep andmelatonin markers of the subjective night in these patients.The melatonin rhythm as well as the cortisol rhythm in IH patientswere significantly phase delayed compared with those in controlsubjects. IH patients are the only group of examined patientsexhibiting consistent changes of circadian rhythmicity.
