Prenatal exposure to chronic hypoxia failed to improve ischemic tolerance on postnatal day 1; protective effect occurred by the end of the first postnatal week. Combination of chronic hypoxia and ischemic preconditioning induced higher protective effectsin all age groups including postnatal day 1.
