Effect of perinatal hypoxia on cardiac tolerance to acute ischaemia in adult male and female rats

  • Original language description

We have shown that perinatal hypoxia increases cardiac tolerance to acute ischemic injury in adult female rats. The effect in males, as judged from the incidence of ischemic arrhythmias, was quite the opposite. The results support the hypothesis that perinatal hypoxia is a primary programming stimulus in the heart, leasing to sex-dependent changes in cardiac tolerance to acute oxygen deprivation in later adult life

Vliv perinatální hypoxie na ischemickou toleranci myokardu dospělých samců a samic laboratorního potkana

  • Czech description

Studie prokázala zvýšenou ischemickou toleranci myokardu dospělých samic potkana, které byly vystaveny perinatální hypoxii; u dospělých samců perinatální hypoxie naopak zvýšila výskyt a závažnost ischemických arytmií. Na základě těchto výsledků lze usuzovat, že perinatální hypoxie ovlivňuje odolnost myokardu k nedostatku kyslíku v dospělosti v závislosti na pohlaví
