Alkali?metal?cation influx and efflux systems in nonconventional yeast species
Original language description
To maintain optimal intracellular concentrations of alkali metal cations, yeast cells employ a series of influx and efflux systems. Non-conventional yeast species have at least three different types of efficient transporters that ensure potassium uptakeand accumulation in cells, two systems to eliminate surplus potassium or toxic sodium cations, and one potassium-specific channel for the regulation of plasma membrane potential
