Collagen-lactoferrin fibrillar coatings enhance osteoblast proliferation and differentiation
Original language description
The main aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of the aECM on the adhesion, growth and osteogenic differentiation of human osteoblast-like Saos-2 cells. The cell adhesion was evaluated by the cell number and spreading area on day 1 after seeding. The cell proliferation was estimated from the cell number on day 3, and the osteogenic differentiation was assessed by the expression of collagen type I, osteocalcin (OC) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) on day 7 after seeding. This is a first study concerning lactoferin as a component of a biomaterial coating and the influence of such coating on cell behavior
