Treept is the freeware program for permutation testing concordance between phylogeny and the distribution of phenetic traits. Source code of treept is available. The program can analyse the quantitive and qualitative character data as well as the distance matrices. The phylogenic tree can be entered in usual bracketed format. The average distance between sister OTUs is calculated or read from a distance matrix and used as a measure of concordance which is tested in one-sided or two sided permutation tail test. The program can either generate all possible permutations of apical branches of the tree or the number of random permutation of tree to be generated can be choosen by a researcher. Plan 9 is a distributed operating system developed by researchersat Bell Labs (Lucent) to replace UNIX OS.
