Re-interpretation of Notothylacites filiformis from the Late Cretaceous of South Bohemia
Original language description
The type material of Notothylacites filiformis Němejc & Pacltová 1974 comes from the Klikov Formation (Turonian-Santonian) croping out in the locality Zliv-Blana in the South Bohemian Basins. Sporangium and spores are hornworts-like and the genus Notothylas from which the name Notothylacites was derived is a part of Anthocerotophyta (hornworts), it was considered to be a liverwort. After revision of the holotype and its comparison with recent hornworths, it´s proposed separation of a fertile part as Notothylacites filiformis (Němejc & Pacltová) (sporangium and spores) and sterile part - dichotomizing thalli as a new species of Ricciopsis.
