Palynology of Late Pennsylvanian – Asselian strata of the Krkonoše-Piedmont Basin, Czech Republic

  • Original language description

Dispersed miospore and pollen assemblages from the Krkonoše-Piedmont Basin were described from the Syřenov, Semily and Vrchlabí formations, i.e. Gzhelian to Asselian age. The assemblage consists of 73 genera with 218 species. General trend from stratigraphically older to younger strata is increasing number of monolete miospores and pollen. The most typical is abundance of Lycospora, Polymorphisporites, Cadiospora, Triquitrites and number of smallest laevigate spores of genera Laevigatosporites, Latosporites, Punctatosporites, Torispora, Thymospora and Speciososporites. The most typical pollen are Florinites, Wilsonites, Potonieisporites, Kosankeisporites, Candidispora, Guthoerlisporites, Vitattina and Nuskoisporites. The reconstruction of vegetation and palynological comparison with other Czech and European coalfields and basins have been made.
