Approximate Euler characteristic, dimension, and weak pigeonhole principles
Original language description
We define the notion of approximate Euler characteristic of definable sets of a first order structure and show that its existence is related to the validity(in the structure) of a form of weak pigeonhole principle. Another form of the weak pigeonhole principle is related to the existence of a non-trivial dimension function on definable sets in the sense of Schanuel.
Czech name
Přibližná Eulerova charakteristika, dimenze a slabé principy PHP
Czech description
Definujeme pojem přibližné Eulerovy charakteristiky množin definovaných ve struktuře prvního řádu. Ukážeme, že její existence souvisí s platností ( v dané struktuře ) verze slabého PHP principu. Jiná verze PHP souvisí s existencí netriviální dimenze ve smyslu Schanuela.
