We give characterizations of weakly compactly generated spaces, their subspaces, Vašák spaces, weakly Lindelöf determined spaces as well as several other classes of Banach spaces related to uniform Gateaux smoothness, in terms of the presence of a totalsubset of the space with some additional properties.

Czech description
Podáváme charakterizace slabě kompaktně generovaných prostorů, jejich podprostorů, Vašákových prostorů, slabě Lindelofsky určených prostorů rovněž jako několika dalších tříd Banachových prostorů vztažených k uniformní gateauxovské hladkosti, a to pomocípřítomnosti jisté totální podmnožiny prostoru s vhodnými dodatečnými vlastnostmi. Navíc, popisujeme geometricky, pokud je to možné, tyto třídy pomocí vhodné rotundity a hladkosti normy prostoru. Jako důsledek dostáváme nové, funkcionálně-analytické důkazy několika vět o ( uniformních ) Eberleinových, Gul´kovových a Talagrandových kompaktech.
