A convergent numerical method for the Navier-Stokes-Fourier system
Original language description
We propose a numerical method for solving the full Navier–Stokes–Fourier system describing the evolution of a compressible, viscous and heat conducting fluid. We use the finite volume method for approximating the convective terms, while the finite element method based on the Crouzeix–Raviart finite elements is used to approximate the viscous stress. The numerical solutions are shown to converge, up to a subsequence, to a suitable weak solution of the problem.
