Phase equilibria in three quaternary water + alkyl alcohol + acetic acid + alkyl acetate systems (where alkyl = methyl, ethyl, or isopropyl) in combination with esterification reactions have been experimentally studied and interpreted. It is demonstratedthat the NRTL model is capable of representing simultaneously the equilibrium data for the studied reacting quaternary systems together with the data for corresponding binary subsystems VLE.
