    Effective Diffusivities and Pore-Transport Characteristics of Washcoated Ceramic Monolith for Automotive Catalytic Converter

    Using the chromatographic technique (carrier-gas: N2; tracer-gases: He, Ar) the effective diffusivity in single pellet-string columns (SPSC) packed with porous slab particles was studied. Dispersion due to extra column effects was eliminated via convolution of column responses for two lengths. The measurements were done for cordierite support particles and for cordierite support coated with alumina based washcoat particles. The effective diffusion coefficients for two tracer-carrier pairs were evaluatedby fitting column response (chromatographic) peaks in time domain. Mean transport parameters were evaluated for both types of porous particles. Obtained mean transport pore radii are in reasonable agreement with pore size distribution from mercury porosimetry.

    Chromatografická kolona v SPSR uspořádání plněná kousky porézního katalytického monolitu byla užita k určení jeho efektivních difuzních koeficientů. Ve studii byly užity 4 neadsorbijící se plyny. Convolutorní integrál byl použit, aby bylo možno odstranitmimokolonové efekty. Z těchto důvodů byly použity 2 různé délky kolony. Fitování v časové doméně bylom použito k určení transportních parametrů i efektivních difuzních koeficientů. Získáné texturní charakteristiky jsou ve shodě z výsledky z tlakové porozimetrie.
