Cyclopentenedione-based ascorbate-rejecting permselective layers prepared by electropolymerization.

  • Original language description

This work focuses on the preparation and optimization of organic functional layers based on 4-cyclopentene-1,3-dione. Hybrid molecules composed of 4-cyclopentene-1,3-dione anchored to a polymerizable moiety based either on pyrrole or methoxybenzene derivatives were synthesized and used for the preparation of thin films by electropolymerization. It is shown that the cyclopentenedione-containing films suppress the ascorbate (negatively charged) electrochemical response when deposited on glassy carbon electrodes, while the response connected to dopamine (positively charged) electrooxidation remains unaffected or is only slightly suppressed. The ascorbate-dopamine selectivity was studied in detail by voltammetry with stationary and rotating disk electrodes.
