Resource Recovery from Calcium - Based MSWI APCR Stabilized by Water Washing
Original language description
The aim of the paper is to evaluate and compare possible options of resource recovery from calcium based APCr stabilized by water washing. The results show that the extract can be a source of salts and sorbents, but there is an optimization issue that needs to be solved. On one hand, a higher total L/S ratio leads to more efficient removal of soluble compounds from APCr and significantly improve their environmental properties. On the other hand, it leads to higher consumption of water, higher production of wastewater, and less concentrated extract, which is not suitable for further salts recovery. A multi-step stabilization and separation process is needed to fully exploit the resource recovery potential of calcium-based APCr. Therefore, different options of extract pre-treatment and product separation will be tested. Material flow analysis and distribution of major components and contaminants will be thoroughly evaluated and presented.
