  • Original language description

The paper deals with the use of special optical fibers for chemical sensing. Optical properties of materials used for the fabrication of fibers are discussed. It is shown how these materials can be arrenged into sensing structures of sectorial, capillary-sectorial and IGI fibers. Special techniques increasing the detection sensitivity and including the selective excitation of the PCS fibers, output mode filters, application of xerogel and ORMOCER coatings on silica fibers are discussed.
