Original language description
Diffraction efficiency of surface-relief gratings with various shallow profiles is discussed. A general relation for the diffraction efficiency is derived under the assumption of Fraunhofer diffraction. The general relation is applied to several profilesmostly needed in pratice. It is pointed out shallow profiles can provide high diffraction efficiencies.
