Zero water flow in the carnivorous genus Genlisea.
Original language description
Zero water flow was measured microvolumetrically in big traps of Genlisea violacea and G. hispidula (Lentibulariaceae). This result suggests that there are no active water flows in Genlisea traps as they were assumed to occur. Anatomical structure of thetrap vesicle is presented to support the concept of zero water flows. This, an efficient uptake of nutrients released from prey might be mediated by sufficient uptake rate of absorptive sessile glands in the vesicle, even at zero water flows.
