An analysis of the name Juncus setaceus shows that the name has been consistently misapplied. In fact, is belongs to what is called Juncus balticus. Under the strict application of rules, J. setaceum must be adapted for the latter. The name J. setaceum is Herifore prepared for rejection.

Czech description
Analýza jména Juncus setaceus ukázala, že jméno bylo nesprávně užíváno a ve skutečnosti patří k taxonu dnes nazývanému J. balticus, které by podle pravidel mělo nahradit. Jméno J. setaceus je proto navrženo moci nomina rejicienda.
