The study reports effects of microcystin and complex extracts and exudates of cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa on growth and oxidative stress in green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The results showed that the effects of pure microcystins differ from effects of complex extracts and exudates containing the same level of microcystins.
