Natural Scientific Analyses at the Archaeological Excavations in Budmerice: Methods, Results, and Perspectives
Original language description
The article presents the employment of natural scientific methods which were used at the excavations of a settlement from the Early Bronze Age in Budmerice (Slovakia). The analyses include anthropological, archaeobotanical and palynological analysis. Regarding the finds situation such as the finding of a skeleton in a pit originally for storage, the aim of the anthropological analysis was to determine a paleopathological information; aim of the pollen analysis was to determine the season, when the pit was filed in. For the archaeobotanical analysis we intend to define the site from the economic point of view. The results of pollen analysis completed the knowledge on the environment of the region and specified when the pit was filled in. The pit was interpreted as a deposition place so-called sacral waste and the skeleton was laid into empty pit during summer time.
