Atlas of freshwater centric diatoms with a brief key and descriptions. Part IV, Stephanodiscaceae B
Original language description
Continuation of the previous parts of the Atlas, this with the genus Stephanodiscus, Cyclostephanos, Pliocaenicus, Hemistephanos, Stephanocostis, Mesodictyon and Spicaticribra. Many of the taxa presented here originated from personal gatherings or collections and from known world diatom collections, often they are types. Authors tried to bring all the most common recent taxa and record their morphological variability in LM as well as in SEM. They also aimed to consider often misinterpreted taxa or thoseusually neglected in contemporary literature in order to help field workers and those who deal with fossil diatoms, and also, where necessary, to bring back into general use some old names.
