    Emotionally charged objects (relics) were used in the politically motivated manipulation of a particular medieval memory to return the Czech Utraquists to Catholicism. Bishop Phillibert of Coutances, a Catholic prelate, called on memories of the past, re-staged earlier Catholic ceremonies and celebrated relics collected by Emperor Charles IV before the Hussite Reformation.
