Practical Epistemology. Stumpf's Halle Logic (1887)
Original language description
This chapter describes Stumpf's conception of logic as well as his distinction between the matter of a judgment and the state of affairs. These were interpreted by Stumpf as immanent mental contents. According to Stumpf, state of affairs are facts of being and non-being corresponding to true judgmental affirmations and negations. Such a conception is limited to Brentano's existential understanding of judgment. However, it proved to be influential for it was reworked by Husserl in his theory of categorial judgments.
