Mosaic structure of the DNA molecules of the human chromosomes 21 and 22.

  • Original language description

Analysis of nucleotide distributions along the DNA sequences of human chromosomes 21 and 22 revealed that the two chromosomes exhibit mosaic structure composed of two types of nucleotide sequences. The two types of sequences differ in their A/T and C/G correlations and the segments are up to 100 kbp long. This mosaic structure is similar to that found in the genome E. coli
