Original language description

Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) and esculetin, both inhibitors of lipoxygenase, were found to suppress proliferation of murine G:5:113 fibrosarcoma cells in vitro. However, they had no curative effects in experiments in vivo when repeatedly administeredto mice bearing tumours growing from subcutaneously transplanted G:5:113 cells. The results demonstrate the necessity of experiments in vivo for evaluating contingent anticancer effects of newly tested substances.
