Dedifferentiation of tobacco cells is associated with ribosomal RNA gene hypomethylation, increased transcription, and chromatin alterations

  • Original language description

Establishment of pluripotency in callus culture of tobacco cells is associated with overall rDNA hypomethylation and enhanced ribosomal RNA genes (rDNA) expression. The epigenetic changes were reversed in regenerated plants. Individual cell types differed in rDNA condensation patterns, however, the global chromatin relaxation was not observed in interphase nuclei.
