The present review summarizes recent advances in the area of development of antitumor platinum drugs. It also provides a strong support for the view that (i) there is a correlation between antitumor activity of platinum compounds and their capacility toinduce in DNA a certain sort of conformational and other alterations; (ii) this correlation may be exploited for simple screening of new platinum complexes for antitumor activity in the search for new antitumor platinum drugs.

Tento přehledný článek shrnuje nedávné pokroky v oblasti vývoje protinádorově účinných platinových sloučenin. Podporuje také názor, podle kterého (i´) existuje korelace mezi protinádorovou aktivitou platinových sloučenin a jejich schopností vyvolávat určitý typ konformačních a jiných změn v DNA; (ii) tato korelace může být využita pro jednoduché testování a vyhledávání nových, protinádorově účinných platinových komplexů.
