    The antioxidant effect of uric acid and of its degradation products (allantoin and allantoic acid) was tested. There was observed that uric acid effectively scavenged various reactive oxygen species, while its catabolic products were ineffective.

    Byly srovnávány antioxidační vlastnosti kyseliny močové a jejích degradačních produktů - allantoinu a kyseliny allantoové. Bylo zjištěno, že kyselina močová efektivně vychytává reaktivní kyslíkové metabolity, zatímco její katabolity nemají antioxidační vlastnosti.
