Original language description
An automatic flow-injection system for simple rapid determination of nitrate in water is described. The method is based on a photolytic conversion of nitrate to nitrite that is subsequently determined as peroxynitrite by the chemiluminescence reaction with luminol. The method can be applied for the simultaneous determination of nitrite and nitrate in water. A detection limit of nitrate is 2x10-7 mol.l-1. The conversion efficiency of nitrate to nitrite is 63 percent.
