Soil diagnostic tests based on different chemical extractants have been proposed to estimate the phytoavailability of toxic metals in soil solution. A new method based on diffusion gradients in thin film (DGT) was used for in situ speciation of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni and Pb in selected soils and results were compared with those obtained by extraction procedures.
