MALDI-TOF MS was applied to reliable characterization of Dickeya and Pectobacterium species in this study. Our results confirm suitability of suggested analytical approach for efficient bacterial differentiation of species based on species specific massfingerprints. MALDI-TOF MS of intact bacterial cells require minimum sample handling and is less time-consuming compared to conventional methods.
