    Diffusion characteristics of Ge in Mg and Mg-1.8wt.%Al alloy were studied. The measurement was carried out by serial sectioning and by residual activity methods in temperature interval 448?848 K. Due to extremely low bulk solubility, Ge diffusion occursalmost exclusively in grain boundaries (GB?s). Hence, Ge diffusion coefficient Db in GB?s was directly evaluated at higher temperatures, whereas triple product P = Dbs? (s, ? ? segregation factor and GB thickness, respectively) was measured in low-temperature region. Obtained values of Db and P enabled to make a rough estimation of segregation factor s of Ge to GB?s.

    Byly studovány difúzní chacrakteristiky Ge v Mg a Mg-1.8wt.%Al slitině. Měření metodou odebírání vrstev a metodou zbytkové aktivity byla provedena v teplotním intervalu 448?848 K. Díky extrémně nízké rozpustnosti Ge v objemu probíhala difúze Ge diffusionvetšinou podél hranic zrn. Tak byl přímo zíkán koeficient difúze germania Db v hranicích zrn při nejvyších teplotách, difuzivita P = Dbs? (s, ? ? segregační faktor, šířka hranice zrn) byla naopak pměřena při nižších teplotách. Získané hodnoty Db a P umožnili hrubě odhanout segregační faktor s germania.
