Original language description
The direct and indirect synthesis, morphological characterization, and optical properties of as-synthesized and heat treated (Al 1-xEu x) 2O 3 powders obtained by combustion synthesis technique at low temperature, were presented. The luminescence properties were investigated by measuring the photoluminescence spectra of the annealed powders. Intense red luminescence was observed in Eu 3+ -doped gamma and alpha alumina phosphors. The results show that two polycrystalline phases of Eu 3+ -doped alpha or gamma alumina can be obtained by pressure-assisted low-temperature combustion synthesis.
