Microfluidic devices for analysis and active optical sorting of individual cells
Original language description
We have constructed a device for active optical manipulation and Raman spectral analysis in a microfluidic environment. This system alllows effecient, nondestructive and contactless sorting of biological samples based on the Raman spectroscopie characteristics of individual living cells. The sorting platform used a combination of fast galvano-optics laser steering system and specially designed microfluidic chips. We used X shaped channels with two input and output ports as well as several other variantswith different flow characteristics. The steerable trapping laser beam was designed to move the cell to the specified locations and confine the cell for the time period needed for the analysis.
