Original language description
Brunn, O., Canals, B., Rougemaille, N. Thermal fluctuations in field demagnetized, a priori athermal artificial square ice magnets [poster]. Lenzburg, Frontiers in Artificial Spin Ice 2023, 14.06.2023-16.06.2023. In this work we study the response of an athermal, artificial square ice submitted to successive field demagnetization protocols. We show that each resulting arrested magnetic state differs substantially from the previous one. Analyzing these states, we find that the field demagnetization protocol we apply is essentially a stochastic process, although quenched disorder is unambiguously present in our array. We discuss the possible sources of stochasticity in our experiments.
