The Classroom Collective Moral Disengagement Scale: A Czech validation
Original language description
Moral disengagement can be conceptualized not only as an individual, but also as a classroom characteristic. This study examined psychometric properties of the Czech version of the Classroom Collective Moral Disengagement Scale (CCMDS; Gini, Pozzoli, andBussey, 2013) and associations of the scale?s score to gender, behaviors in bullying, and collective efficacy to stop peer aggression. The sample consisted of 517 sixth-graders from public elementary schools. The participants filled the CCMDS, the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire, and the scale for measuring collective efficacy to stop peer aggression (Barchia & Bussey, 2011). Confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency analysis reached acceptable results. Next, the study indicated several plausible links of the scale?s score to behaviors in bullying, gender, and collective efficacy. In sum, the scale can be considered a useful instrument applicable in diverse cultural contexts.
