The Role of Metacognitive Monitoring and Regulation in CPS with Assistance of GenAI
Original language description
This presentation explores the role of metacognitive monitoring and regulation in creative problem-solving (CPS) with the support of Generative AI (GenAI), specifically ChatGPT. It highlights how self-regulation, co-regulation, and hybrid human-AI regulation impact CPS, enhancing solution quality, elaboration, and originality. Two key studies are discussed: one examining how ChatGPT improves creative problem-solving, though not universally benefiting high-performing individuals, and another on effective prompting strategies for maximizing GenAI’s usefulness. The findings underscore a collaborative approach to using AI, promoting ChatGPT as a partner in the creative process rather than a mere information source, emphasizing the concept of 'hybrid' human-AI regulation.
