Conducting of mining activities at conditions of Sedlové starta in Karviná subbasin of Ostrava ? Karviná coalfield (hereafter OKR) has brought various safety risks. It is concerned above all problematic of underground rockbursts, endangering safety of work and at the same time causing considerable material losses. One of principal means of rockburst measure leading to loss degree of rockburst risk, or eventually to reduction of potential rockburst consequences, is destress rock blasting, which is realised ordinarily in roof strata of worked coal seams. Especially for forestall of underground rockbursts with focus in upper roof of mined coal seams destress rock blasting is practically a unique effective rockburst measure. All blasting activities of thiskind have been realised until now in holes with diameters ranging from 75 mm up to 95mm.
