Martin Slobodník (1970-2019). Pioneer of Tibetan studies in Slovakia

  • Original language description

Martin Slobodník was a rare man, hard-working and hearty, with a characteristic dry sense of humour. He made fun of his own fascination with the Chinese communist jargon that seemed so bizarre, especially compared to the reality of Tibetan society. He felt home in local archives, especially the archives in Lanzhou with rich collection of documents related to Tibetan areas from the post-Cultural Revolution period were among his favourite.
