Original language description

The conference looked into the photo album as visual representation of society and as a carrier of a new meaning, often opposite to the original, especially with regard to crisis periods. One of the aims of the event was to draw attention to specific unknown albums reflecting displaced chapters of history, neglected groups and forgotten individuals and to discuss the possibility of interpretation of such material. Special attention was paid to three topics: the relationship between historical events, individual memory and postmemory, migration and materiality and the idea of reinterpretation of the photo album.
