Independence of extracellular tortuosity and volume fraction during osmotic challenge in rat neocortex.
Original language description
To determine if the ECS volume fraction (α) and tortuosity (λ) are independent, we varied the size of the ECS by changing the NaCl content to alter osmolality of bathing media for rat cortical slices. We found that when α decreases, λincreases but when α increases, λ rapidly attains a constant value.
