Toward consensus in the analysis of urinary 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine as a noninvasive biomarker of oxidative stress.
Original language description
The manuscript compares chromatographic and immunoassay methods used for the detection of urinary 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2-deoxyguanosine (8-oxodG). Samples containing different concentrations of 8-oxodG were sent to ESCULA members. Data were returned from 17laboratories, representing 20 detection methods. There was good within-technique agreement for most of the laboratories. ELISA, however, showed more within-technique variation and reported higher 8-oxodG values. Overall, the study reveals greater consensus than previously expected, although some concern remains over ELISA.
