Electrospun Nanofibers as Drug Delivery Systems

  • Original language description

Electrospinning is a facile technique for production of functionalized materials. The nanofibers have enormous specific surface and enalble efficient modification of surfaces by biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. On the other hand, the mild conditions during the electrospinning are ideal for incorporation of active molecules. The molecules may be incorporated by core/shell tecgnique enabling tight regulation of release. The electrospun systems provide promising properties for biomedical and pharmacological applications.
