Cytotoxicity of Organic Compounds Bound to Ambient Air Particles from Various Sampling Sites
Original language description
In this study we compared cytotoxicity of organic extracts from PM10 particles (<10 μm) in model of the human lung epithelial cells A549 using MTS cytotoxicity assay. For this purpose, ambient air particulate matter PM10 (<10 μm) was collected in several localities in the Czech Republic (Lom u Mostu) and Germany (Deutschneudorf, Collmberg, Leipzig Mitte), extracts were tested at concentrations 1, 5, 15 a 30 m3 of sampled air/ml. All daily PM10 levels from all 4 sampling stations were under the daily PM10 limit value of 50 µg/m3, cytotoxicity of PM10 from all localities was generally low and depending the locality cell survival varied between 70-90 % for highest PM10.
