Properties of Biomaterials and Stem Cells Fate
Original language description
Stem cells are well - known to have prominent role in tissue engineering. For successful tissue engineering there are two essential elements - cells and scaffolds. The functions of stem cells are regulated by signals from surrounding niche. The materials and techniques used in fabrication of scaffolds are able to mimic the nanostructure in natural extracellular matrix and provide the chemical stimulation. The shape of scaffolds provides the biophysical stimuli. Better understanding the interactions of stem cells and biomaterial scaffolds provide the possibilities to design new scaffolds for future effective applications in tissue engineering.
