The Effect of Surface Properties on Nanofiber-cell Interactions
Original language description
The complex interaction of cells and nanofibers, material properties were evaluated. An optimal fibrous scaffold is made of moderate hydrophilic polymer with a submicronic diameter. Certain cell types prefer parallel aligned nanofibers that can increasenthe speed of cell migration to the healing site. Flat nanofibrous scaffolds are suitable fornepithelial cells such as keratinocytes. For other cells such as fibroblasts, osteoblasts ornchondroblasts, 3D culturing and encasement in a material lead to better results in terms of cellnadhesion, proliferation and differentiation.
